Certification Update

New CVE Maintenance Plans
October 20, 2009

The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) manages the maintenance of persons who are Certified Vocational Evaluators since the close of CCWAVES in 2008.  CRCC is adding technology by early 2010 to offer greater access and interactivity with CVE’s on their website. To be included in this database, CRCC is asking that CVE’s update contact information (especially email addresses) so that when the new technology is in place, they are contacted quickly and accurately.

CCWAVES
Website No Longer Available

As noted on 9/5/2008, the Commission on Certification of Work Adjustment and Vocational Evaluation Specialists (CCWAVES) issued an announcement indicating that CCWAVES had been forced to begin the process to dissolve the organization.

As of September 2009 the CCWAVES is no longer operational.  For information on certification please go to the CRCC website.

Previous CVE Information

2/2/2009
If you have recently received your renewal packet, please proceed with normal procedures. Apparently, there is some confusion regarding the dissolution and whether one should renew. Until otherwise informed by CCWAVES, it is business as usual for maintenance.

Failure to renew properly may mean you will lose your credentials. You are welcome to contact Paige.Tidwell@vewaa.com if you have any questions or you may contact CCWAVES directly.

CCWAVES indicated that this was a very difficult decision.  Our conversations with Ron Spitznagle, Chair of the Commission, confirmed that the CCWAVES was faced with extremely difficult circumstances.   VEWAA will work with VECAP and other appointing organizations to determine what this will mean to current certificants, prospective applicants and practitioners in the fields of vocational evaluation, work adjustment and career assessment.

We realize that there are many questions and concerns. Read thoughts from VEWAA about what this could mean to the field.  Additional information will be posted on the VEWAA website.

Please contact VEWAA with comments or questions at info@vewaa.com.

Certification

National certification in vocational evaluation had been available through the Commission on Certification of Work Adjustment and Vocational Evaluation Specialists (CCWAVES).  The CVE (Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist) certification was a nationally recognized certification intended to provide assurance that professionals engaged in vocational evaluation meet minimal standards of quality.  Such assurance benefits the consumer, other practitioners, allied professions, and the general public.  Individuals who obtain certification have demonstrated a minimum level of competence (as determined by CCWAVES) with regard to the practice of vocational evaluation.

The certification was nationally recognized in the United States and Canada.

Further information regarding certification please go to the CRCC website at http://www.crccertification.com/pages/cve_cwa_ccaa_designations/100.php.
