Important CCWAVES Development - 9/5/2008

The Commission on Certification of Work Adjustment and Vocational Evaluation Specialists (CCWAVES) has issued an announcement indicating that, as of 9/5/2008, CCWAVES has been forced to begin the process to dissolve the organization.

VEWAA has been in contact with CCWAVES to learn more details.   We suggest that you go to the CCWAVES website at www.ccwaves.org to see the letter that was sent to all certificants.

CCWAVES indicated that this was a very difficult decision.  Our conversations with Ron Spitznagle, Chair of the Commission, confirmed that the CCWAVES was faced with extremely difficult circumstances.   VEWAA will work with VECAP and other appointing organizations to determine what this will mean to current certificants, prospective applicants and practitioners in the fields of vocational evaluation, work adjustment and career assessment.

We realize that there are many questions and concerns. Additional information will be posted on the VEWAA website as soon as possible.  Please check back or contact VEWAA with questions at info@vewaa.com.

Certification

National certification in vocational evaluation is available through the Commission on Certification of Work Adjustment and Vocational Evaluation Specialists (CCWAVES).  The CVE (Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist) certification is a nationally recognized certification intended to provide assurance that professionals engaged in vocational evaluation meet minimal standards of quality.  Such assurance benefits the consumer, other practitioners, allied professions, and the general public.  Individuals who obtain certification have demonstrated a minimum level of competence (as determined by CCWAVES) with regard to the practice of vocational evaluation.

The certification is nationally recognized in the United States and Canada.  The National Rehabilitation Association, the parent organization of VEWAA, is a sponsoring organization of CCWAVES and appoints a commissioner to serve on the Commission's governing body.

Further information regarding certification is available on the CCWAVES website at www.ccwaves.org.
